Ophelia's Madness
The reason for Ophelia's madness I think has to do with Hamlet. Ophelia is already limited in society because she is a woman, this makes her different than Hamlet who has the ability to change his fate or even have control of his own life and do as he pleases. Ophelia isn't really allowed to express her feelings and be obedient as Hamlet can. Also her relationship with Hamlet isn't great. He didn't treat her great. Hamlet was her first in meaning of having relations with someone. That was very emotional for her and the fact that they weren't together and being that they did that messed Ophelia mentally. At one point Ophelia had to choose between Hamlet and her father, and of course Ophelia chooses her father as she should because Hamlet isn't her husband, as it would differ if she was married to Hamlet. Once Ophelia's father Polonious is killed she finally loses herself. I do feel sorry for Ophelia because at that time in society as a women she didn't have a voice to speak up for herself. Also she didn't really have anyone she could trust and the only man that she could trust is now dead, so everything in her life has fell apart for Ophelia. I think Ophelia did just give up once the branch broke because she felt as if she didn't have anything else to live for. I think Gertude did let her die because he most likely knew she was crazy, so he just let her die to not witness her life get worse for her.

Hamlets Decision
Hamlets Dilemma
Hamlet, in Shakespeare's Hamlet, tells you himself why he hesitates to kill Claudius:
Now might I do it pat, now 'a is a-praying,And now I'll do't--and so 'a goes to heaven,And so am I revenged. That would be scanned [looked at or thought about again].A villain kills my father, and for that,I, his sole son, do this same villain sendTo heaven. Why, this is hire and salary, not revenge. (Act 3 Scene 4 73-79)
Hamlet's Catholic beliefs suggest that if Claudius dies just after he's confessed, he will be forgiven of all of his sins and he will go to heaven. Hamlet doesn't want to send Claudius to heaven.
Hamlet's father, in the form of the Ghost, is wandering, and Hamlet, if he were to kill a king, he would go straight to hell. Hamlet reasons, Claudius, the evil one of the three, will be the only one of the three to be rewarded with eternal salvation if he kills Claudius while he is confessing.
Claudius while he is praying, is not really confessing. He is was not going to give up his life of sin, and therefore does not confess or repent. Hamlet could have killed Claudius while Claudius was praying, and order would have been restored in Denmark.
This makes Hamlet's decision to walk away and to not kill Claudius. Hamlet is guilty of hubris, attempting to rise above his station in life. Salvation is God's business, not Hamlet's. Hamlet is sort of playing as if he was God when he attempts take another persons life to.

To live or Die
To be or Not to be
In the first video the setting was by the ocean and the video was in black and white. The effect this has is it has an lonely feeling or sort of a mystery. The director is trying to convey a life or death situation. The music got more intense as Hamlet went deeper into what he was saying. The lighting was day time but the fact that the video was black and white it already gave an effect to it. The figurative aspects of this video was Hamlet was sitting by the ocean in reference to what he says in his speech "Or to take arms against a sea of troubles and opposing end them?". The emotion was moderate in time to me he wasn't really over dramatic.
The second video the setting was in an underground catacone. The director was conveying death because Hamelt was surrounded by skeletons on buried people. The music wasn't really intense in this one but the actor was. He brought out every ounce of emotion he had in that scene. This was one of the most overly dramatic scenes out all four videos we observed. The figurative aspects was in the beginning when Hamlet said, "To live or to die" and the cameras turned to the skeletons.
In the third video the setting was in a mansion/castle it was one of the brightest or up lifting scenery. The video started off with Hamlet looking in the mirror as he was talking to his inner self. The director was conveying life or death was in a lighter time because of the scenery. What I favored about this video clip is that it flashed back to his dad a little bit as he was making his speech. Also something else we didn't see in the other videos is that Polonious and Colonious was watching him through the mirror as he was talking to himself.
Lastly in the fourth video the setting was at night time but in blockbuster which game it a semi- modern feeling we can relate too. Hamlet was walking through the action section videos which I thought was very clever. The TV added an effect to what he was saying because it was flames of fire on the screen when he stared talking about death. This wasn't my favorite scene in this specific video but it was good to see the originality in all the videos. All four videos had there own vision of what Hamlet spoke about.
